Alder Lake: The first prices are sorted for pre-orderers

Alder Lake has been presented and is scheduled to start in a few days. The field is slowly sorting itself out and a general price level is emerging for pre-orderers and release buyers. Some dealers have already sent the goods out. The focus is of course on the Core i9-12900K, Core i7-12700K, and Core i5-12600K

  • Intel Core i9-12900K: 649,99 USD + VAT
  • Intel Core i7-12700K: 459,99 USD + VAT
  • Intel Core i5-12600K: 319,99 USD + VAT

The prices are apparently already largely fixed for the launch, as the dealers who list the goods are all pretty much in agreement. In the USA, it seems that it is a bit cheaper at the moment, even with the Value Add Tax taken into account. Intel had slightly increased the prices for the processors compared to the predecessor, as has been clear since the introduction.

At the moment it is expected that the prices will decrease a bit after the release. The big question will be to what extent availability in general and resellers will distort the picture. While the memory prices of DDR5 are higher than those of DDR 4, they seem to be reasonably decent given the platform costs. The purchase of the mainboard could be the decisive point for many users to change their minds because the price level is consistently high. Even cheap motherboards are currently over almost 300 dollars. The manufacturers may justify this with increased effort and more features, but a mid-range motherboard with a Z690 still costs 350 to 580 dollars. Premium boards are well above this. Patience will probably pay off here.
