AMD praised this technology a lot

This month, six months have passed since the introduction of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, which is one of the key technologies that appeared in games. This is a good opportunity to verify the manufacturer's promises - we check what has changed and what are the prospects for the future.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) is an open spatial image scaling technology that allows you to increase the smoothness of games.

Already during the premiere, we indicated that the key is the rapid dissemination of technology and support in more games. What came out of it? AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution six months after the premiere

It turns out to be really good. FSR has received official support from over 80 game developers and publishers (the transition to an open license has certainly played a significant role here ).

Thanks to this, the technology is available today in 47 games, and 24 more upcoming titles that will use it have been officially announced (and this is probably not the last word of the developers). All of this makes FidelityFX Super Resolution the fastest-spreading gaming software technology in AMD's history.

The list of games with the announced and already active FSR support has just exceeded 70 and they include:

  • DEATHLOOP
  • Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition
  • F1 2021
  • Far Cry 6
  • Resident Evil Village
  • Farming Simulator 22
  • Ghostrunner
  • Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
  • Lego Builder's Journey
  • World War Z: Aftermath
  • Warhammer: Vermintide 2
  • Arcadegeddon
  • Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Grounded

The function was designed with broad accessibility in mind and therefore it is compatible with a wide range of equipment - including AMD Radeon graphics chips (also integrated into processors), but also graphics cards from competitors (the official compatibility list includes GeForce RTX 3000, RTX 2000, GTX 1600 and GTX 1000, but in practice, the technology can be fired on a much larger range of equipment).

Already during the premiere, we indicated that FSR will be useful to owners of weaker equipment and players who care about the highest possible number of frames per second. Depending on the title and settings, the difference in performance can be really significant (especially in Performance mode).

Therefore, it is clear that the new technology is gaining momentum and is indeed enjoying more and more interest on the part of developers (and this already proves its success). The reception and evaluation of the technology depend to a large extent on the resolution you will play and the image quality your monitor / TV offers.

What awaits us in 2022 when it comes to FidelityFX Super Resolution? It is true that AMD does not want to disclose the details yet, but programmers are really just starting their adventure with technology and promise a lot of news. Among them, there are certainly more titles with FSR support.
