Last month, rumors suggested that the next generation of MediaTek Dimensity premium chips would use the new ARMv9 architecture and use TSMC’s 4nm process. The chip is called Dimensity 2000, and the Digital Chat Station pager now confirms earlier allegations and adds some new information. Dimensity 2000 has a Cortex-X2 core, clocked at 3.0GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores, and four A510 cores. It is the same layout that will use the Snapdragon 898 and Exynos 2200 chips, but they will be created in Samsung’s 4nm process. The GPU that Dimensity 2000 will use should be the Mali-G710 MC10 and this processor could be the first to use the said GPU. The G710 is 20% faster than the G78 model it changes, according to ARM, while also promising a 20% improvement in power efficiency and 35 percent better performance for machine learning tasks. For CPUs and GPUs, performance will largely dictate the clock speeds that can be achieved using the 4nm manufacturing process.
