Graphics cards are cheaper due to cryptocurrencies

For several months, we have been observing serious problems with the supply of graphics cards, which affect the availability of equipment and highly inflated prices in stores. However, it seems the situation has finally started to improve. Graphics cards at ever better prices

Although the prices of graphics cards are still very high, in recent weeks we have seen a slight improvement in the situation - the Radeon RX 6000 models are on average more expensive by 67%, and the GeForce RTX 3000 by 77% compared to the rates suggested by the manufacturer.

Prices of individual models are:

ModelSuggested priceReal priceDown from January 2
Radeon RX 6500 XT$ 270+40%-
Radeon RX 6600$ 329+47%-12pp
Radeon RX 6600 XT$ 379+51%-12pp
Radeon RX 6700 XT$ 479+73%-13pp
Radeon RX 6800$ 579+97%-12pp
Radeon RX 6800 XT$ 649 +88%-18pp
Radeon RX 6900 XT$ 999+43%±0
GeForce RTX 3060$ 329+88%-15pp
GeForce RTX 3060 Ti$ 399+91%-12pp

GeForce RTX 3080$ 699 +98%-7pp
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti$ 1199+49%-2pp
GeForce RTX 3090$ 1,499+54%-7pp

So you can see that some models are available at quite good prices (as for the current times) - it is worth mentioning here the Radeon RX 6500 XT, Radeon RX 6600, Radeon RX 6600 XT, or the top Radeon RX 6900 XT cards. In the "green" camp, these are mainly the top models of GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3090. Other designs are still very expensive (often you have to pay almost twice as much as the manufacturer claims). Why are graphics cards cheaper?

The drop in graphics card prices is good news for gamers looking to build a new gaming PC. By the way, it is worth adding that the availability of new models is also improving.

Where do such differences come from? The reasons can be traced to the falling cryptocurrency exchange rate, which discourages miners from mining. In such a situation, we observe lower demand, which translates into lower prices (and, at the same time, greater availability of equipment in stores).

Hopefully, the trend will continue and the cards will return to normal prices soon.

In other news, later this year, the GeForce RTX 4000 cards will debut on the market, which is to bring a significant increase in performance. Unfortunately, they will most likely also have a much higher demand for electricity.
