New Intel's Raptor Lake CPUs could be launched sooner

We could hardly wait for the release of Intel's 12th generation platform, and rumors have already been circulating about the 13th generation CPU, codenamed Raptor Lake . And that's not all, because the famous leakster @momomo_us, reports PCgamer , has announced the release date of Intel's new generation of high-end desktop platform. He claims that both the Raptor Lake and Fishhawk Falls HEDT platforms will be released in the third quarter of 2022, which is slightly earlier than expected.

The Fishhawk Falls platform with Sapphire Rapids CPU should replace the current Glacier Falls platform, which features a Cascade Lake-X CPU and X299 motherboards. The X299 was launched in mid-2017, so it should have been replaced a long time ago.

When viewed in isolation, the premium 18-core i9-10980XE is a very powerful CPU, but pales in comparison to the number of cores and features of AMD's Threadripper range with up to 64 cores. Fishhawk Falls should announce Intel’s strong return to the HEDT market after years of AMD dominance. There is still a long way to go before we can confirm the platform's specifications, but given what we know about upcoming Xeon CPUs, it's not hard to assume that the platform will have up to 56 cores, support for PCIe 5.0 and 8-channel DDR5 memory which comes with a new chipset and a very large base. It will probably get quite hot.

Raptor Lake is the successor to Alder Lake, and the 13th generation CPUs are expected to be more refreshing than the all-new technology, but that’s to be expected given the huge changes introduced with the 12th generation. You can expect things like an increase in the number of E cores and an increase in clock speed. The range is expected to be released along with Z790 motherboards that may also have USB 4.0 and better DDR5 support. However, do not sell your DDR4 kit. It looks like the current Z690 motherboards will accept 13th generation processors after the BIOS update and will continue to support DDR4 memory.

By the time the third quarter of 2022 begins, we hope that supply will be well on its way to returning to normal. Maybe the end of 2022 could be the right time to upgrade. The 13th generation processors will fight AMD's Zen 4. Also, let's not forget the next generation Nvidia Ada Lovelace and RDNA 3 GPU.

Start saving on time, what else can we tell you.
