MSI’s custom designs from the “Gaming Trio” model series are getting higher clock rates from the Radeon RX 6800 to the 6900 XT, as well as new backplates.

MSI brings revised custom models

With the new name suffixes “Gaming Z Trio” instead of “Gaming X Trio” and “Gaming Trio Plus” instead of just “Gaming Trio“, the MSI custom models of the Radeon RX 6800, 6800 XT and 6900 XT of said series will receive new versions, which as usual, the already diverse naming scheme of the board partners does not necessarily make it easier.

The changes aren’t too big, there are slightly higher clock rates in most cases, although not in all cases. However, some “Gaming Plus” models are faster than the previous “Gaming X” models, while others have a lower clock frequency. Meanwhile, the new “Gaming Z” graphics cards are the highest clocked models in the range (with the exception of the RX 6800 model).

The new “Plus” model of the Radeon RX 6900 XT is faster than the previous “Gaming X” model, while the new Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming Z Trio is the fastest MSI graphics card with RDNA2 GPU to date. It handles a boost clock of up to 2,425MHz, which is 60MHz higher than the Gaming X Trio. Likewise, the RX 6800 XT Gaming Z” is 25 MHz faster than the “Gaming X“. The following table provides an overview:
