MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic, with new Sonic Red switches
MSI continues to expand its lineup of gaming gear at CES 2022.
There they have unveiled the GK71 Sonic 'gaming' mechanical keyboard. The 'Sonic' name refers to MSI's newest proprietary switches, the Sonic Red.
MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic is a structure made of aluminum (body) with a palm rest made of memory foam. The model is equipped with proprietary MSI Sonic Red linear switches with a service life of 70 million clicks. To ensure minimal response time in dynamic games, the activation keys only need 35 grams of actuation force to work, which would be one of the lightest on the market.
The actuation point is at a distance of 1.9 mm, and the maximum full key travel is 4 mm. The keyboard also uses transparent caps for switches - MSI ClearCaps, which, together with RGB LED backlight, provides interesting visual effects. The keyboard also has multimedia buttons and a double knob that can be controlled by touching it from the top or side of the keyboard. The specification is completed by a cable in a material braid, which can be led under the bottom of the device
This lightness in the actuation force makes it a very agile keyboard, especially for games.
To make these switches, MSI has collaborated with the people of Kailh, to adapt the classic Red switches to custom ones for MSI. In this way, the Vigor GK71 Sonic is the first pre-made keyboard on the market that we have seen with this linear switch light.
Gamers will be comfortable with a keyboard with switches as smooth as these, though we don't know if they're the best when it comes to typing, nothing you can't get used to.
The keys have transparent caps that help the RGB lighting shine brighter, a foam wrist rest, media keys, and a media/volume control wheel, which seems to be a classic on more expensive gaming keyboards. It also incorporates an integrated memory to load up to three profiles.
The keyboard has an aircraft-grade aluminum chassis, which gives the whole thing good rigidity.
MSI GK71 Sonic is going to come out in the month of February at a price of 119 dollars.
Additionally, MSI has also announced Vigor GK50. This keyboard is smaller and uses low-profile Kailh mechanical switches. Its cable is a detachable USB.
The lighting is of the ARGB type and has a sale price of 84.99 dollars. Its launch is expected later this year in Europe and Asia.
