Take flight with new Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar
New Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar in a black ceramic case and green dial. The most sophisticated and modern aviation instrument and luxury object from Schaffhausen.
New Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar in a black ceramic case and green dial - “racing green” -. The most sophisticated and modern aviation instrument and luxury object from Schaffhausen. A complex character with a reinforced high-tech sporting spirit. It is a material that IWC has been using since the 1980s. Zirconium dioxide - the basis of ceramics - reaches the powerful Schaffhausen Perpetual Calendar. A superb piece with an outstanding mechanical base that is now dressed in a touch of sophisticated high-tech style. It may be the sportiest and most intimidating IWC Pilot's watch now in their catalog after the steel version - we'll talk about the tourbillions another day. Christoph Grainger-Herr keeps taking flight.
This new version acquires that peculiar crossover touch that we are seeing in the market. A leap from classicism, which generally resorted to noble materials such as gold for this type of complication. But now he is betting on a less conventional aesthetic. The same IWC already presented this Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar in steel this year. And, although it may not seem like it, it is an almost revolutionary gesture. The truth is that we can essentially consider a pilot as a watch of a sporting nature. So the IWC proposal, although it is a complicated piece, finds justified principles to follow this evolution. LIMITED EDITION
This limited version combines a ceramic case and green dial with significant details such as the golden hands. Racing green, IWC calls the tone of its dial. A very vivid color that we already knew in other pieces of the firm and that for the first time is taken to its perpetual calendar. The sporty look is reinforced by the textured calfskin (black) strap. Continuing with the refinement of a solid and tall watch, the Schaffhausen manufacture uses Ceratanium, the resistant titanium alloy created by the firm, for the case back and crown. It is a material with the similar improved properties of ceramic, in a matte black finish.
We all identify with the naked eye the famous automatic part with the module of the moon phase of the two hemispheres designed by the teacher Kurt Klaus. A system that recognized each month and leap year without requiring adjustment until 2100. And that, thanks to the addition of an additional century, the four digits of the year reach up to 2499. The calendar module adds 80 components in the well-known caliber of Manufacture 52615 with its rotor decorated in rose gold. And it carries two barrels that keep the watch alive for a full week DATASHEET:
