The GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition collection of the first three 3D GTA games will be released by the end of the year with more modern graphics and gameplay, and Rockstar has confirmed that it will remove original versions of the games from digital stores.
Thus, from Monday, October 11, GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas will no longer be available on Steam, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and other digital stores. They will not be available for purchase, but owners will still be able to download and play in their original forms.
Rockstar explained this in their Support section. Although not directly confirmed, it is certain that the owners of the original, if they wish, will need to purchase versions of the games from the Definitive Edition again. Whether or not it pays off we’ll find out once Rockstar delivers gameplay displays and more details about the remasters.
