GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics release date & specifications

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is confirmed to be the next GPU that Nvidia releases after the RTX 4070. You can expect that this RTX 40-series GPU will come equipped with features of other GPUs in the stack, such as DLSS 3, and the ability to run Cyberpunk 2077’s Overdrive Mode. It’s likely that the RTX 4060 Ti will be powered by an AD106 chip if leaks are to be believed. Though this is the third step down in the stack of GPUs. The “60” lineup of graphics cards is always the most popular, and the RTX 4060 Ti could be the first GPU of this generation targeted more towards a mass market, with an accessible price point.

RTX 4060 Ti price

The Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti will be priced starting at $399 for the 8GB variant of the GPU. The 16GB variant of the GPU will cost $499.This comes following substantial leaks from the podcast Moore’s Law Is Dead. We originally expected that the RTX 4060 Ti will retail for around $450 USD upon release. Further reports also stated that the GPU will be lower in price than originally expected.Considering that there is somewhat of a price bump at the high end for the RTX 40-series, it’s incredibly welcome that Nvidia has not bumped up the pricing in this particular segment. The RTX 3060 Ti launched for $399.This pricing structure also allows Nvidia to launch its vanilla RTX 4060 for just $299 making new GPUs a slightly more reasonable prospect for those interested.

RTX 4060 Ti release date

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti will be released on May 24, 2023. A 16GB variant of the GPU will also launch in July, Nvidia claims.

According to the most recent rumors, and further corroborated by Videocardz. the RTX 4060 Ti shipped to partners on May 5, and was correctly poised to be launched in “late May” according to leaked documents. It’s believed that the launch of the RTX 4060 Ti will align with Computex 2023, where other announcements are set to be made in the tech industry.

The 16GB variant of the GPU is also poised to be released in the second half of July, with Nvidia confirming nothing further than the month itself. With many GPUs now released, it’s clear that Nvidia would be keen to enter the low-mid range markets, which is smitten with these mainstream GPUs. Thankfully, it would also offer a sub $500 price point to entice customers to purchase a brand-new GPU.

RTX 4060 Ti specifications

The Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti specifications have today been officially confirmed by Nvidia. The GPUs will land with either 8Gb or 16GB of VRAM, but are otherwise identical. The RTX 4060 Ti will have a base clock of 2.31GHz, boosting up to 2.54GHz. It will also feature a 128-bit memory bus and will also feature an expanded L2 cache.

Couresty of Kopite7Kimi, we had a good idea of what the wider RTX 40-series stack looks like on a basic level, including the RTX 4060 Ti. As it stands, the RTX 4060 Ti will use the AD106 chip, too, being the first-ever desktop GPU to do so. We’re still expecting AD106 to show up first on laptop hardware, however.

We’ve talked about the RTX 4060’s relatively odd specifications before, as it falls around 26% slower than the RTX 4070’s leaked specifications. Needless to say, don’t expect RTX 4080-like performance. Additionally, the meager 8GB of VRAM in 2022 simply isn’t enough for gaming at higher resolutions, which AMD has been quick to snip at in their marketing materials.

However, you should expect better performance with the 16GB model of the card, and we will be sure to lay out all of the differences between both configurations when it finally releases.

The GPU is also reportedly using a shorter PCB, to allow for placement in smaller systems like Intel NUC and ITX-based systems. However, a knock against these reported RTX 4060 Ti specifications is also that the card is going to be using a 12VHPWR port. We also suspect that there will be custom variants that use the normal 8-pin connectors, too, due to their low wattage.

Originally, the RTX 4060 Ti was going to use 225W of power, however, this stat has since been revised. The RTX 4060 Ti will now reportedly only demand 160W of power, according to the latest leaks. However, despite only requiring 225W of power, it’s likely that the RTX 4060 Ti will still use a power port rated for up to 600W, which doesn’t really make much sense to us.Right now, the RTX 4060 Ti might be a worthy upgrade for those stuck on a 10-series card, but judging from these preliminary specifications, it’s likely that this GPU will target 1080p to 1440p performance at 60FPS. So, don’t expect a staggering 4K performance from the 8GB variant.

Is the RTX 4060 Ti going to be powerful?

We expect that the RTX 4060 Ti will be about as powerful as an RTX 3070, with additional DLSS 3 support. This could make the GPU a dead ringer for 1080p performance, with its lack of VRAM making it potentially suffer when it comes to native rasterization at higher resolutions. Despite this, it will still have a relatively good performance difference when compared to the RTX 3060 Ti, too. However, the significantly cut-down GPU might mean that those who already have an RTX 30-series GPU will be left disappointed.

When will the RTX 4060 Ti get released?

The RTX 4060 Ti will be dropped from Nvidia on May 24. The GPU was officially revealed on April 18. The GPU will also get a Founders Edition model. For the 16GB variant, users will have to wait until July.

For now, keep your eyes peeled on this page, as we get more information about the GPUs. And as always, take any rumors and leaks with a pinch of salt until things are officially confirmed.
