Gigabyte S55U: Large gaming monitor with 1,500 cd/m² peak brightness

If you're still seeking a gaming monitor that can fit not only on your desk but also in your closet, the Gigabyte S55U is the way to go.

The 54.6-inch gadget with a quantum dot panel attempts to combine the size of a television with the functionality of a monitor, but fails in the connections: picture signals are only sent to the 4-UHD display with 120 Hertz and VA Technology via HDMI 2.1. There is no display port, and due to the length of the wire, it is unlikely to be particularly useful.

The Gigabyte S55U features the previously mentioned VA panel with 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and 120 Hertz, achieving 96 percent DCI-P3 and 140 percent SRGB with a contrast ratio of 5,000:1.

It shines when it comes to backlighting: the 132 zones of direct-acting LEDs achieve a usual brightness of 500 candelas per square meter and a peak brightness of 1,500 candelas per square meter. For gamers, Freesync Premium is also included.

HDMI 2.1 (48 Gb/s) and HDMI 2.0 are used to connect the device. There are USB and network connections, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The equipment works because of the built-in Android system, which also gives access to the Google Play Store. The S55U also has the gigabyte gaming features that other devices have.

As expected, the foot can't do much for the device's size; for more, utilize the VESA mount with 400 x 300 millimeters. Arms and wall brackets must be 5.2 kg strong.

Gigabyte claims an average power usage of 83 watts. Two 10-watt speakers provide basic sound reinforcement; signals can also be relayed via an optical output.Price and availability were not mentioned at the time.
