The Swiss watch house returns to amaze us with the uniqueness of the techniques used to make its watches. Hublot has just unveiled the new Spirit of Big Bang Gold Crystal watch which features a 24-karat gold flake dial obtained thanks to the extremely rare natural crystallization process of gold expertly recreated in the laboratory.
AN UNPRECEDENTED PRODUCTION TECHNIQUE
The watchmaker heated the 24-karat gold to a melting point of 1064.18 degrees Celsius, with which the atoms were vaporized into a gaseous mixture. A large number of crystals come together, giving life to unique precious structures. The best crystals are then selected by the craftsman who will fit them into every quadrant of the Spirit of Big Bang Gold Crystal. The expert adds the lacquer on each crystal in a controlled atmosphere and, after each of them is encapsulated, each dial is polished. Until a smooth appearance is achieved.
The newcomer to Hublot is available in 39mm and 42mm sizes. Both work with a HUB1710 movement from the brand. Which guarantees a power reserve of 50 hours. The shimmering gold of the crystals contrasts harmoniously with the satin black ceramic of the case and bezel. While the strap is in black alligator leather stitched on rubber. As stated by Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, the creation of new materials and processing techniques reside in the essence of Hublot. So much so that he has managed to reproduce the rarest form of gold known as gold crystal. “Hublot is not only transmuting gold, but it is also transforming the DNA of its watchmaking signature,” concluded Ricardo Guadalupe.
