Weinstein is charged with rape, sexual penetration by force, and if convicted, he could face up to life in prison. This is the first time he has appeared at a trial in Los Angeles, where charges were filed against him for sexually assaulting five women between 2004 and 2013.
Weinstein came to the trial in a wheelchair in a brown prison uniform and was brought to Los Angeles from New York where he is already serving a 23-year prison sentence for other cases of rape and other sexual assaults.
