ONE PASSWORD FOR EVERYONE - 1Password

Digital Password Management Manager - 1Password - has announced Universal Sign-On. Which should make password management and logging easier. The password dates back to pre-internet times and was invented by Fernando Korbato in the 1960s - at that time he developed the Compatible Time-Sharing System (CTSS), which allowed users to share a computer while protecting their private files. Corbato later claimed that passwords had become problematic, and pointed out that the system he created was made for another time - the era before the Internet.

Old passwords are not made to be used within the network, which means that it is necessary to change the privacy of change as soon as possible - and the creator of passwords himself called for their abolition for the rest of his life, since almost no human being can remember all passwords it uses. This is why the same account passwords are often used on all websites, which is a security flaw in itself.

The service already offers small and large companies services that facilitate control and guarantee security when it comes to passwords used by employees. Universal Sign-On should improve this process, along with multifactor authentication.

The new method could therefore make life on the Internet much easier, since Universal Sign-On works with one password, and one password is certainly possible to remember. 1Password uses SSO (Single sign-on) solutions in this process - an authentication method that allows one password to be used on different accounts. Of course, this method does not solve all security problems, but one part, but it is also Password Secure Sharing Tool), which allows secure exchange of information, even with those who do not use the service.

It's a secure way to share passwords, via email or chat, by sending a unique link to people who need something. 1Password regularly offers new solutions, so in October 2021, for example, it introduced the Psst! password.

Psst! is a security substitute for writing passwords, sharing them via email or chat, or even through shared documents. Everything is solved by sending a single link to people you trust. Each link that is sent is available for a limited time (up to 30 days) and may require the recipient's email address to be verified before the content becomes available. The time availability of the link is adjusted as needed.

Sharing is performed in several steps: first open the Menu and select the Share option, to generate a link. Then the time of availability of the link is selected (1 hour, 5 days, 30 days) and with which e-mail addresses the content is shared. Upon receiving the link, the recipient will either be directed to a website with shared content or will have to type in an email address to which they will soon receive a verification code. When he enters it, he will see the content.

Passwords are responsible for many scandals - some riches in cryptocurrencies are locked, for example, because someone forgot the password. Today, we have other security solutions, such as security keys, so passwords could soon become a thing of the past. Until that happens, we still have to remember them, keep them and take care that they do not fall into the wrong hands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UQnkKUgdHk
