Alder Lake: Micro Center releases the high prices for 12700K / 12900K

After the first prices for Alder Lake leaked some time ago, the US retailer Micro Center is now listing the three models that will be available in stores at the turn of the month. This probably also confirms that the models Core i9-12900K, Core i7-12700K, and Core i5-12600K are actually appearing - and probably also the F versions with deactivated IGP.

As usual, the Micro Center gives the following US prices excluding taxes:

  • i9-12900K (F), 8 + 8/24, 30 MiB, 5.0 / 5.3 GHz, 3.7 / 3.9 GHz, UHD 770, 125 watt TDP: $ 669.99
  • i7-12700K (F), 8 + 4/20, 25 MiB, 4.7 / 5.0 GHz, 3.6 / 3.8 GHz, UHD 770, 125 watt TDP: $ 549.99
  • i5-12600K (F), 6 + 6/16, 18 MiB, 4.5 / 4.9 GHz, 3.4 / 3.6 GHz, UHD 770, 125 watt TDP: not listed

If you take a look at the flagship Core i9-12900K, that would be 130 US dollars more at the start of sales than its predecessor, the Core i9-11900K. The Core i7-12700K would be $ 170 more expensive than the Core i7-11700K. A picture of a Core i9-12900K recently made the rounds, where the customer stated a purchase price of US $ 610.

Up until now, it was assumed that Intel would generally not increase prices significantly. High sales prices at the start would then be due to the dealers. It is also unclear at the moment what the supply situation will be. There will be clarification on November 27th at the latest - according to the rumor mill, this is the date of the interview and the start of sales. The Z690 will appear to go with the K processors, and it is mainly equipped with a bit better connections. However, motherboards are likely to be relatively expensive, the rumors report. At the start, the providers intend to offer mainly higher-priced models.
