Atos - the next generation of hybrid supercomputers
Atos unveiled the BullSequana XH3000, an exascale-class supercomputer with exceptional flexibility and performance that will enable top scientists and academics to enhance research in fields such as weather and climate change, drug discovery, and genetics.
Atos' most efficient and powerful supercomputer, designed and constructed in Europe at its own plant in Angers, France, is a crucial component in guaranteeing today's digital and economic sovereignty.
As Europe's unchallenged leader in supercomputing, Atos plays a critical role in addressing sovereignty challenges, ensuring that important knowledge and skills in High-Performance Computing (HPC) are cultivated and kept in Europe.
Sovereignty is a crucial concern for governments, public entities, and private corporations in order to make full use of their data while keeping the ability to defend it under any circumstances. Atos is committed to providing its consumers with the capabilities to obtain greater control over the data they produce and exchange, thanks to the BullSequana XH3000 supercomputer and experience in sovereign cloud and cyber security.
Exascale computing powered by accelerated hybrid computing - Because of the rising amount and complexity of data available today, there is an exponential demand for processing capacity to address the new challenges confronting humanity, such as global warming and the Covid-19 epidemic. The BullSequana XH3000 will be able to deliver unprecedented computing power - up to a six-fold increase in computing power over previous versions - at any level, from exascale-class systems, thanks to advanced hybrid computing technology that combines CPU, GPU, and AI, or even quantum computing hardware in traditional streams of scientific simulations.
Greener HPC for optimizing performance and lowering energy use - The BullSequana XH3000 is one of the most energy-efficient supercomputers on the market, thanks to its environmentally friendly design and architecture, patented Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) solution that will provide over 50% more cooling power than previous generations, and product life cycle that is fully environmentally friendly, from raw material procurement and production to testing and transportation to disposal and recycling.
"As Europe's premier HPC supplier, Atos is ideally positioned to drive research and innovation with its new supercomputer and deliver exascale-class equipment to its clients." Atos is demonstrating a clear, comprehensive vision of the future of scientific simulation, taking into account the importance of decarbonization, with its new BullSequana XH3000 supercomputer, a hybrid computer ecosystem that integrates artificial intelligence and quantum computing, and its strong exascale plan.
"Supercomputing drives innovation for business, society, and the global economy as a whole, as well as being critical to scientific and economic sovereignty in the twenty-first century," stated Rodolphe Belmer, CEO of Atos.
We are incredibly pleased with our HPC leadership and our new BullSequan supercomputer, which was unveiled today after 15 years of research and development and combines proven skills and experience in high-performance computing, AI, quantum computing, security, and Atos' digital decarbonization. "With the support of the exascale class, this will surely enable some of the big scientific and industrial innovation discoveries of the future," argues Belmer.
The BullSequana XH3000 supercomputer incorporates the most advanced and demanding technologies and networks and is powered by the most advanced CPU and GPU processor and accelerator architecture from AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, and European microprocessor SiPearl, for increased power capacity and performance, as well as more efficient scientific simulations.
Because of its OpenSequan architecture, it is entirely interoperable with all future computer modules and interconnection technologies, allowing users to quickly scale it up as needed. With security-by-design access and integrated vulnerability monitoring and threat prediction, the BullSequana XH3000 provides powerful data protection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM9E2k7DsGM&t=3s
