Android has a much wider and larger user base when it comes to installed devices, compared to Apple iOS. Despite Apple managing a smaller portion of the market, the Cupertino-based company is actually the leader in earnings in the phone market, according to Counterpoint Research. According to the report, during the second quarter of 2021, Apple managed to achieve 75% of operating earnings in the phone market and 40% of revenues. This is despite the fact that Apple holds only 13% of global mobile phone shipments. Counterpoint suggests that the reason for this is the strong brand of the company - despite the high prices of iPhones, users still buy them.
The report also notes that revenue of 40% is slightly lower compared to what was achieved during the fourth quarter of 2020 when Apple's share of revenue in the phone market was 50 percent. It should be noted that these calculations and figures are not official, because Apple does not share data on sales or deliveries of its iPhone devices, so it is best to take the mentioned statistics as a nominal value.
