Meta Quest & Co.: VR headset users no longer need a Facebook account
According to the Meta Group, a Facebook account is no longer required for the Meta Quest aka Oculus Quest. A meta account will be required beginning in January 2023.
The Oculus Quest 2 is now available on Amazon for roughly 485 dollars. Now, Meta, the business behind Facebook, Oculus, Instagram, and Whatsapp, has announced that the Oculus/Meta VR headsets will no longer require a Facebook account.
Oculus users will no longer be required to have a Facebook account beginning in January 2023. From January 1st, 2023, the meta account will take its place. Users can also have several meta accounts for each person.
There are also new privacy measures, which prevent you from being found publicly and force you to respond to each follower's request individually. As a result, there will be three presets: public, friends and family, and solitary.
To create a meta account, you must first create a Meta Horizon profile, which includes a user name, avatar, and profile photo. As a result, a meta-account serves as the foundation for the metaverse.
You can connect your meta account to Facebook and Instagram if you like. Meta sees a lot of potential in the metaverse and virtual worlds.
According to the website The Information, the corporation behind Facebook plans to release four additional virtual reality headsets by 2024. As a result, Meta is developing the high-end model Cambria, which might cost slightly under $800.
